This is Sadie Austin. What a great name. Sadie was a classy, sassy and well-educated cowgirl.
It won't surprise you that I have an affinity for all things related to Western settlement.
This incredible photo journal has so many fantastic photos from the era.
It says she wasn't afraid "to put on a split skirt and help the cowhands."
She was known as the best cowgirl in Cherry County. L-O-v-e it.
If there was a way to capture the kind of cowgirl I want to be and hope our girls learn about -- that would be it. Be crazy smart, gorgeously elegant, but never be afraid to get your hands dirty.
